Breeze Through Life By Setting Goals
Do This If You Want To Breeze Through
Life Have you ever noticed how some people seem to
stride through life without a care while at the same time
being successful at everything they turn their hand to?
Then of course there are some people who try harder and
harder every day and seem to get nowhere.
Which would you like to be I wonder? I know,
it's a trick question, or a loaded one at the very least.
Of course we all want to appear to breeze through life
and be successful at everything we do! The answer then is
to set goals and stick to them!
I know that this may seem like a strange
question but what is a goal anyway? Defining what a goal
is may actually give us a few clues as to how we should
set and treat them. Goals are external representations of
your inner wishes and desires. Notice that I didn't say
dreams because in my opinion dreams are something that
never happen!
As long as your goals are achievable, realistic
and broken down into small steps you are good to go! Also
bear in mind that you must act upon goals for them to
happen, simply writing them down will not cut the
mustard!
Bear in mind the following when setting
goals;
Be open and accepting to change. The reason that
you have goals is that for some reason or other you were
reluctant to change and its a normal, human condition to
fear change, however understanding and embracing change
are vital skills to achieving your goals. Practice
Secrets Revealed has a whole chapter to not only the
cycle of change but understanding and accepting change,
it's that important!
Step outside your comfort zone a little! We all
prefer to do things that we feel comfortable with and
would rather not step outside that safe, comfy boundary
but if you are honest with yourself you may find that it
is the reason you have not reached a particular goal
yet.
Be prepared to learn from your mistakes. We wont
meet every challenge with uncompromising success but it
is the manner in which we deal (or respond) to that which
makes a difference. Look at these as opportunities to
learn and reflect rather than failures and plan more
effectively next time.
Be congruent. What do I mean by this? Well, I
mean that you should act accordingly. In other words
simply writing “I will attend the gym at 7.30am” is not
enough, you actually need to get your kit ready, drive to
the gym, get changed and work out. In other words live up
to what you say you are going to do!
Being realistic about your goals is also going
to make the world of difference, after all goals are
simply a person accepting their current limitations and
setting a plan in motion in order to reach a stage where
that is no longer the case!
Each time you achieve a goal your skill set gets
that much stronger, your performance in your chosen area
improves and you grow in confidence. As these things
happen you are able to set higher goals and reach them
and so begins a wonderful cycle of
achievement.
That said, you must bear in mind that a
realistic approach is a good line to take because if you
do set goals too high and you do not achieve them then
the opposite will happen, you will suffer from reduced
confidence and probably not want to try again.
It is important to look at your support network
(family, friends, tutors, teachers, management, coaches
etc) and what is available and build this into your goal
setting while at the same time ensuring that your goals
are realistic in order to avoid this.
Doing this will ensure that you do not over
stretch yet remain challenged and focussed
and will make a huge difference.
Once you achieve your goals you can reap the rewards as
you become one of those people that good things seemingly
“just happen to!”
