Goal Setting And The Power of Now!
Getting Started Is The First Step To
Getting Finished! In another article I covered “The Power of Now”
by Brian Tracy and if you have not already read that
article I strongly urge you to do so. Thinking about “The
Power of Now” got me thinking about another aspect of
goal setting and that is immediacy and this is how I cam
to coin the phrase “The Power of Now!”
Thinking “How” to yourself is one thing but you
must act and I cannot stress how important this is.
Recently I found an 8” x 4” leather bound notebook I
forgot I had. It was in a box in the attic gathering dust
and guess what? It was chock full of great ideas for
everything from book projects, training courses, personal
goals, business ideas, you name it!
If I were to set out to complete everything in
there I believe I would need another 2 lifetimes! These
were ideas and aspirations I had put onto paper many
years ago and stored away when moving house.
Why am I telling you this? How is this important
to you achieving the goals you set for yourself? Well,
after you think “How?” I want you to record the answer
and then think “Now!” and do something, no matter how
small to take that first step towards
achievement.
It may simply be picking up the phone and making
a call, it may be going out to the shop and buying a
piece of equipment you need or simply announcing to
someone that you are going to do it. Whatever it is, use
“The Power of Now” to put something into action
immediately... or loose that goal forever in
time...
The is a saying in the business world that you
may or may not have heard; “Touch a piece of paper
once.”
If you stop to think about this for a second it
really does make sense because it forces you to deal with
things with a sense of immediacy rather than putting it
off and that is what I am trying to convey here. Take a
step towards your goal right away, no matter how small
and make the power of now really set to work for
you.
It's a simple idea and those are always the best
kind! Once you make take that first step, keep it up,
constantly review the goals you have set for yourself and
every time you do, think “Now” and you cannot fail to
take action and steadfastly work towards your goals, it
really is all about attitude and frame of mind and once
it becomes habit you will start to see immediate change
for the better in your personal goal planning, setting
and success.
